7 Pinoys Enter Last 64 in the UK Open Pool Championship

Seven Filipino pool players advance to the Last 64 of the UK Open Pool Championships being held in Telford International Centre in Telford, United Kingdom.

Jeffrey Ignacio, Carlo Biado, Anton Raga and Marvin Asis were undefeated winning against their respective rivals in the winners qualification. Ignacio bested Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, 9-6 while Biado outclassed Phoung Nam Pham of Vietnam, 9-0. Raga had a good day beating Alvin Anggito of Indonesia, 9-6 while Asis has been put to a close battle winning 9-8 over Marc Bijsterbosch of the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Jefrey Roda, James Aranas and Bernie Regalario had to go through the losers qualification to advance to the last 64. Roda overcome some early mistakes in his qualification match against the 17 years old Sam Henderson of the USA to close the match 9-8. Regalario pull away early to defeat Lu hui Chan of Chinese Taipei, 9-5 while Aranas bounces back from a 9-1 defeat to Pijus Labutis, to book his spot in the last 64 overcoming Chen Wei Chen of Chinese Taipei, 9-6.

The Last 64 single round elimination starts tomorrow, May 10. Unfortunately, 2 pinoys will face each other namely Marvin Asis and Bernie Regalario with the winner advancing to Last 32.

The 2024 UK Open Pool Championship boasts a prize fund of $200,000 with the eventual champion taking home the top prize amounting to $30,000.
