The Philippine Women’s Under-17 National Football Team opened up their AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup campaign with an impressive start, overpowering host Indonesia, 6-1 on Monday at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Bali, Indonesia.
Alexa Pino and Natalie Collins, the team’s two starting forwards, highlighted the gulf in class between both countries by scoring two goals each with Pino starting at the 6th and 35th minutes while Collins followed suit through second-half goals in the 54th and 62nd minutes. Jael-Marie Guy and Ariana Markey also scored in the 22nd and 29th minutes respectively.
“We congratulate the u17 Philippine Women’s Team on an impressive start in their campaign. Seeing the team play victoriously on their opening game against the host nation brings much hope and inspiration for many young Filipina footballers aspiring to play for flag and country someday,” said PFF President John Gutierrez.
