The Philippine Taekwondo Poomsae Team bags gold medal in the 8th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Da Nang, Vietnam on May 15, 2024.
The team composed of Darius Venerable, Kobe Macario, Juvenile Crisostomo, Zyka Santiago and Stella Yape copped the gold in the Mixed Freestyle Team Over 17 event, beating teams from Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, India, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam.

At the conclusion of the event, the Philippines garnered a total of 1 gold, 1 silver and five bronze medals. Ernesto Guzman, Jr. delivered the silver medal in the Men’s Recognized Individual Over 50. Bronze medals were bagged by June Ninobla and Jocel Lyn Ninobla in the Men’s Recognized Individual Under 60 and Women’s Recognized Individual Under 30 respectively.
Adding three more bronze medals are Baguio City’s top young taekwondo djinn Justine Kobe Macario placed third in the Men’s Freestyle Individual Over 17, the pair Darius Venerable and Nikki Oliva in the Mixed Freestyle Pair Over 17 and the Women’s Recognized Team Under 30 of Jocel Lyn Ninobla, Nicole Labayne and Sofia Sarmiento.
The Philippine Taekwondo Association sees the competition as an opportunity for the national team’s build up in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Chuncheon Korea Open Taekwondo Championships, Daegu World University Taekwondo Festival, Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) and World Poomsae Taekwondo Championships as per Philippine Taekwondo Association.
