The Philippines top junior rider John Andre Aguja of the Go for Gold Team bags bronze medal in the Men’s Junior Cross Country Olympics (XCO) Category at the 2024 Asian MTB Championships in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The 16-year old pride of Iriga City clocked 56 minutes and .01 second just 3 and 6 seconds behind the silver and gold medalist Linghao Wen and Shaochao Qin of China and 3 seconds .
Aguja is expected to improve his current 23rd placing in the UCI World Junior rankings after placing third in the event pby twenty-eight strong riders.
Meanwhile, other representatives from the Philippines namely Dianna Marie Costes excel the Women U23 race, grabbing an impressive 5th place finish with a clocking time of 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 17 seconds while Czeena Mharie Rapisora showcased her prowess in the Women’s Junior category, securing the 10th spot with a time of 52 minutes and 33 seconds.
